another chinook 4×4 guru
another chinook 4×4 guru. Lance Ogden. this guys got tons of photos of his chinook project here + check out his videos. he’s got a video of the 4×4 chinook conversion and a video of the finished 4×4 chinook out exploring the wilds of canada
“I originally bought my Chinook in march of 2003 and could not pass it through a safety inspection so it sat till mid march 2010. For the next three weeks ( afterwork and weekends) I switched the Chinook over to a 1980 Toyota longbed chassis , upgraded the suspension and set off on a 5 week vacation around BC s interior and coast. I had a few repairs to do during this time but after that its been all good and I have had a few great adventures in it without incident .”
Hey man that things awsome! Think im gonna do that set-up to. I have an 81 4x for the truck and a 2wd 76 chinook for the camper and just wanted to know… did you have alter the frame? or wer the bed mounts a good match? also how did you create the seal between the cab and shell? again, that thing is sweet! great work!
i agree, it is awesome! but i didn’t make it. here’s a link to a posting with lots of information from the guy who did make it – http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3658
good luck on your project!
oh, well thats cool.. do you persay, know if the bed mounts on an 80 4x and a 76 2x are the same?

No there not, close but different, the 79/83 frame is wider than the 76 so the mounting holes don’t line up.
